It has been very evident today to me that my energy loss has been down to an ear infection. I actually went to sleep last night with my left ear looking like a cross between a boxer and rugby player's ear! It was red, sore and very puffy. It is a good job I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow afternoon. As today it has felt like I have been living on board a houseboat with the water around making it sway from side to side! So today I did not venture too far from my bed. Even making a coffee was a chore!
This evening both Arsenal and Argyle were playing in their respective leagues. So picture me listen to the radio via the TV for one match and also on the portable radio for the other match! In the Premier League, Arsenal went behind at home to Everton, thanks to a very controversial goal scored by Saha who was clearly offside. The shocking decision by the referee and his assistant was debated by the commentators right through until Arsenal scored an equaliser. Fortunately, Arsenal went on to win 2-1 so the controversy should be quickly forgotten.
In their match away to Yeovil, Argyle were perhaps the better side in the first half and again for most of the second, however very much like Saturday's game, Argyle came away on the losing side. Final score Yeovil 0-1 Argyle, and to add insult to injury, Argyle had Bolasie sent off in the last seconds of the game, which will mean a three match suspension at a time when Argyle have enough problems trying to survive.
Off the pitch, Peter Risdale, who was called in to steer Argyle out of their financial problems, has given the majority shareholders an ultimatum. Apparently he had been promised £2 million from the Japanese based directors and as yet the money has not been forthcoming! In light of the broken promises from the shareholders, Mr Risdale has said if the money does not appear by the 8th February he will sever all ties with the club and leave the rescuing to someone else. In fact accrording to the local news, the majority shareholder - Yasuaki Kagami has not actually invested any money into the club since he became a 38% shareholder. The players themselves have not been paid for three consecutive months!
NOW! Do you remember me going on about 2011 being THE YEAR FOR CHANGE? Well don't take my word for it. Watch the news and see for yourself! Already we have seen the people have their say in Tunisia and now the same thing is happening in Egypt, with calls for the President to step down and "FOR CHANGE!" According to the BBC news, it would not be a surprise if this wave of enthusiasm for people taking control back for themselves could very well sweep across the world, and not just in the middle eastern countries! This could be the sign of things to come! According to one reporter "This shows that people the world over want change!"
