Wednesday January 12th

Good news for Argyle today. First of all they have managed to survive a winding up order and paid off much of their debt. Still a way to go but maybe this will be enough to see the team survive until the end of the season at least. Secondly, Bradley Wright-Phillips will not now be heading to Reading after all and for the time being remains an Argyle player. Given the result last night that is a very good thing. In the Carling Cup (League Cup) Arsenal are away to Ipswich tonight and I am hoping for a good result. 

It is Lottery night too and I have got my fingers crossed already for a small win at least! 

I am currently researching into the setting up of a charity for families who are caught up in the unfair system and I hope to be able to sort something out in the next few days and with those already interested who I think would make a great team as they come from different backgrounds and circumstances if we can get this up and running then the only people with anything to fear would be those who are responsible for keeping children from parents. 

Tuesday January 11th

Oh dear! Not a good day on the football pitch for Argyle. This evening they were away to Huddersfield and sitting comfortably on a 0-2 lead. Then Nelson was shown a red card and things just went down hill from there. In fact they ended up 3-2 losers and down to nine men yet again. Only Argyle could grab a defeat from the jaws of victory. Just goes to show that it may help finances if you get rid of all your good players but not much help when you are struggling mid table and want to get back into the Championship League! Hopefully this will be the end of the dark days and the team can soon turn the trouble around. Home match v Oldham on Saturday, seems ages since I went to a match. 

Plymouth was very quiet again today. The weather was fine for most of the time I was out about but it did become a bit more gloomier as the day went on. The forecast for the next couple of days at least does not promise things getting much better. In fact heavy rain is promised most of the time. 

The movement for fairness within the family law system is growing daily. The Light Up The Sky group on Facebook for instance has been reborn and now has a membership of over 2250. It is hoped that more regular lighting up events will take place throughout the year, with Mother's Day and Father's Day being high priorities and also hopefully a meet up of parents not only similar to my own case involving the corruption of cafcass but also dealing with social services and other agencies. If you thought I had been quiet for a few days  you might be right but if you think I was going to go away quietly you would be very wrong! I think if you work for the likes of cafcass the phrase you would be looking for is "CALM BEFORE THE STORM!"

Monday January 10th

What a difference a day makes! Yesterday the fair rides and ice rink were still in place in the City. Today the ice rink is surrounded by metal barriers and the fair rides have vanished. The weather today has had a dramatic twist too. From bright and sunny to dark and wet. Not just wet, torrential! I walked from the house to the bottom of the road and was wet by the time I arrived at the coffee shop! Not sure if it was the weather or the fact that it was the start of the first full week back to school here but Plymouth was empty again. 

There was an FA Cup fixture tonight and a shock result brings non-league side Crawley into the 4th Round after beating Championship side Derby 2-1. 

Sunday January 9th

More FA Cup matches today with Manchester United hosting Liverpool and running out 1-0 winners following a debatable penalty very early on in the match and the sending off a bit later of Liverpool's Steven Gerrard. Match live on ITV was fairly watchable even for me! The draw for round 4 was made after the afternoon matches and Arsenal, if they get past Leeds in the replay at Elland Road have another home draw against Huddersfield. 

Had a short walk through the City centre again which was rather quiet for the first time since Christmas. Obviously all the bargains have been snapped up! it was fairly easy to walk through most of the shops. 

I have now watched all of season one and two of CSI so need to find season three now! Trip to HMV on Monday I think.

Saturday January 8th

FA Cup 3rd Round Day! The early afternoon kick off was Arsenal's home match with Leeds which turned out to be a 1-1 draw. A first penalty by Leeds could have seen Arsenal go out in the third round for the first time in years but fortunately Fabregas came off the bench and scored the important equaliser also from the penalty spot which takes the match to a replay at Elland Road. 

In League One the postponed game between Bournemouth and Argyle took place with the home team running out 3-0 winners. It was a game noticeable by the absence of Argyle's star striker Bradley Wright- Phillips and it is almost certain he will be sold off to Reading very soon as part of the drive to rescue Argyle from it's debt problems. Good for finances but bad for football! 

I did not venture too far from home today. After watching the football, I walked into the City to go to the bank, grab a coffee and also purchase my lottery ticket for tonight's draw. 

Friday January 7th

Today I am overjoyed with the news that PEOPLE POWER has struck it's first blow for 2011. Following a complaint to the BBC along with about 6,000 other people, the current storyline regarding the cot death of one child and then the grieving mother snatching another baby is to be brought to an early end. In my opinion it is good that the taboo subject of infant death is featured in these programmes that millions of people do watch. However such traumatic subjects such as losing a much longed for child should be handled with a bit more respect than the BBC were attempting to portray. As soon as I heard about the storyline I wrote a complaint to the BBC and it is good to know that along with me 1000's of others also found the storyline offensive. Thankfully the BBC, have bowed to public pressure. Just shows that sometimes the public can have a say. So today I see the first tick on my hit-list for 2011. The press also report that the actress portraying the grieving mother come baby-snatcher is to quit the soap among rumours that she herself is extremely unhappy with the way she is portraying this heartbreaking storyline.

Sadly today there comes news that ex-boxer Gary Mason has been killed in a motorbike accident. I have never been a boxing fan but I do remember watching a few of his fights. 

There is obviously more jubilant news in the media following on from England beating Australia 3-1 in the Ashes. Also in the sporting news today there is growing speculation that Arsenal's arch London rivals Spurs may be close to securing David Beckham on a loan deal from American side LA Galaxy.
